First blog, of course it’s about my name!
Yes, I was named after the lead in the novel, Phka Srapoun, which my family was so touched and loved her loyalty when it was made into movie and shown in the cinema. Great timing!
To be honest, I don’t really like being addressed by that name as it’s too long, and it would trigger so much attention. People like making fun of this name and match making me, so I don’t really like it. I was praised for beautiful name, but I did not buy it. But later I do think it’s beautiful and I don’t mind any more.
Female lead vs me!
The novel is really depressing! She died at young age suppressing her feelings and did not fight for what she wants. Talking about tradition and culture, especially at that time, it’s really hard for her go against her parents. She was forced to marry the bad guy over status and money. Now, I feel so lucky to be born in the era, where our education and rights are in our hands. However, the truth is there are still many girls who had to go through life they don’t want. I’m not just talking about marriage, but many things like career, where to live, where to go and what to do. I am not saying we should always rebel, I’m talking about voicing our own views, talking with reasons and respective one another. Young people should never abuse their freedom of speech and despise our great tradition, I just believe balance is possible and harmony is attainable.
Talking about the female lead, I like her character of being loyal and know what’s right. She just either did not have the courage, or she could not do anything. I feel really bad for her. About me, I’m not sure if it’s because of my environment, what I went through, or it’s my nature, but I’m soft and obedient, but righteous and fierce too. Similar to her, I’m quite loyal and responsible and I’m the woman of her words. There are also somethings I change intentionally.
The ending of the novel
Somehow, I think it’s better this way that she died of illness and not live in suffering with the bad guy. I would prefer the ending that she is knowledgeable, has her own money and power, and go against parents and the bad guy. It’s not just to go against anyone for the sake of it. It’s about what’s right to do and be responsible. Unless both leads don’t love each other, they should have the power decide. No one party should be forced.
I just thought she could it differently like talking reason, or coming up with deals with her mother, or work together with male lead to build wealth again to prove. I am sure there are more ways
Knowledge is the power!
Getting educated is very important! If you get the opportunity, do it well. If you don’t, fight for it to get one. The more you learn, the better and you will have more power and control on your life. You can make impacts in different ways as well. Whatever you do, do it well. One thing at a time. You don’t need to be good at everything, you just need to be good at several things and be great at a few things.
Last but not least, I want to emphasize to all everyone, especially women that “You can stand up for yourself and you need to!”. Everyone has their own value and It’s really important to be seen and appreciated by the first and most important person in the world – YOU.
